listeroid
This page is about how to modify your listeroid to run on veg oil with out carbon build up and get more hp out of it at the same time .
You need to run the engine at 70 % loading at least to have the combustion temp hot enough to burn the veg oil or it will leave carbon on piston and head.
(1) You need to hone the barrell to get out boring bar tool marks so you will not wear out rings and use oil .
(2) You need to machine barrell and liner so the liner protustion is set at .003" above barrell .
(3) Machine head face so it is flat.
(4) Have a composite head gasket made 1 mm thick.
(5) Make sure the valve guides are ok and have .0015" clearance. I machined up a new exhaust guide for the listeroids I am working on and machined inlet and exhaust guides for valve stem seals.
(6) A harden exhaust valve is necessary for higher egt 's .
(7) Raise compression to 18/1 you may have to have the piston .020"out the top of barrell as long as you have .020" clearance between piston and head , as a cast iron piston does not grow very much with temp , you will have to do a dummy set up to check valve to piston clearance you should have about .010" with valve decompresson lever in .
(8) Harden washers under head bolts and aply copper grease under nuts and on threads so you get a better torque on bolts.
(9) Hollow oil dipper to get more oil to b/end .
(10) You will have to machine valve seats a bit lower especially the exhaust so they will not hit the piston , you will have to work out the correct valve hight .
New valve guide I made from piston ring grade cast iron for exhaust on left , right old guide.
valve stem seals on 6/1 to stop oil going down valve guides.
12/1 listeroid head I am working on .
6/1 listeroid with harden exhaust vavle fitted ready to be fitted.
6/1 head finished.
valve guides fitted after machining for valve stem seals.
liner and barrell machined and liner protustion set to .003" on 6/1.
12/1 listeroid barrell machined ready for assembley.
One of 3 12/1 listeroids I imported from india.
All machining was done at my work , thanks to my bosses.
(11) You must have a radiator and thermostat to control water temp, a thermal siphon set up does not work, if it does not very well, if it was such a great system then we would still have big water tanks on the fronts of our cars but we do not so it must not be very efficient.

New harden exhaust valve ready for machining down for 6/1 listeroid.
cc ing cylinder head to check compression ratio.
Cam followers, one on the top of pic has been gound , middle as been polished on wet and dry untill all grinding marks have gone ,bottom has not been machined , left follower is being polished on 180 grit wet and dry, all followers need to be trued up by machining them as they are not very good.
Harden head washers need to be fitted to get better torque on head gasket , you also need copper coat grease under washers and on threads for lube, to get better torque.
